    This advanced auto extrication class sponsored by Tony's Wrecker Service will challenge even the veteran extrication specialist. Nick Schade owner of Tony's wrecker service who works closely with the fire service in Jefferson County will be the lead instructor. The class will be held at Tony's Wrecker Service located at 3311 Collins Lane, Louisville, KY 40245.

    This class will cover the OSHA & NFPA 1670 requirements for Trench Rescue, Instructors will be members of Jefferson County Special Operations Command (JSOC). Students will perform hands on skills in a trench simulator. The class will be held at the Kentucky Regional Training Center on 11605 Fairmount Road, Louisville, KY 40291.

    This class will cover the OSHA & NFPA 1670 requirements for Rope Rescue Technician, Instructors will be members of Louisville Fire Department's Rescue 2 who are their Rope Rescue Technicans.     This course presents a basic overview of a fire investigation. Students will review the basics of fire chemistry and develop an understanding of the role of the first responder in relation to fire suppression and fire investigation. The course will stress the importance of fire scene awareness, evidence identification, preservation, and the basics of a fire investigation. Students will develop an appreciation of the convergence of suppression, investigation, science, and law. This class will be taught by KY State Fire Rescue Training Staff.     This course is designed to provide students with the fundamental skills and knowledge to apply the risk-management model to health and safety aspects of. emergency services operations including program management, day-to-day operations, and incident safety. This course is appropriate for field supervisors or company-level officers, chief officers, and civilian managers who have department-level health and safety responsibilities. Areas of study include firefighter fatality and injury data, principles of operational risk management, regulations, on-scene safety responsibilities, safety at situation-specific hazards, and post-incident analysis. The course addresses professionalism, resilience, emotional intelligence, and situational awareness, as well as managing conflict, delegating, mentoring, coaching, empowering, and building collaboration and synergy for professional growth.     Class 9: Emergency Pediatric Care [2-day course] 09/25/25 & 09/26/25 (Book Fee: $55.00 included)

    The Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) course focuses on critical pediatric physiology, illnesses, injuries and interventions to help EMS practitioners provide the best treatment for sick and injured children in the field.  The course stresses critical thinking skills to help practitioners make the best decisions for their young patients. Topics covered include: The pathophysiology of the most common critical pediatric emergency issues, and critical thinking skills to help practitioners make the best decisions for their patients. Application of the Pediatric Assessment Triangle (PAT), a tool to help EMS practitioners rapidly and accurately assess pediatric patients. The importance of family-centered care. Understanding and communicating with children. Airway management, breathing and oxygenation. Cardiac emergencies. Recognizing child abuse and neglect. Hypoperfusion and shock. Newborn resuscitation. EPC is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, emergency medical responders, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and physicians. EPC is accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT.     This class will allow junior firefighters to get training in several subjects. Junior firefighters must be affiliated with a Kentucky Fire Department, Fairdale High School's Fire Science Program, Fern Creek High School's Fire Science Program or Lesley & Rhyan Prather's Girls Empowerment Camp to participate in this class. This class will be taught by Fairdale Fire Chief Carrie Blevins. The class will be held at the Kentucky Regional Training Center on 11605 Fairmount Road, Louisville, KY 40291.
